Polo Shirts – a classic wardrobe staple

Classics are classics for a reason and polo shirts are a staple, just like jeans are. Men’s style has changed little over the past 100 years and loose knit pique cotton polo shirts are one of those wardrobe items that have been a mainstay of preppy style since René Lacoste first wore a polo shirt in 1929 at Wimbledon – we even named one of our polo shirts, Jean René after the Frenchman. But we’ve come a long way since the Lacoste’s white polo with the trademark ‘crocodile’. Philippe Perzi Vienna’s polo shirts are definitely fashion forward, with vibrant colours and contrasting fabric that adds an extra bit of panache to your outfit.

Polo Shirts – look effortlessly put together, even when it’s hot

We’ve had our fair share of rain this year in Australia, however as we approach Summer, we can expect many long hot days to come. But it’s not an excuse to let your sartorial standards slip just because the mercury rises. If you think wearing T-shirts around all summer is a good look, you need to re-evaluate. By slipping on one of our polo shirts made from 100% cotton pique (a very breathable fabric), you’ll look effortlessly cool, comfortable, classy and oh so smart-casual without a sweat stain in sight.

Polo Shirts – Be ready for anything and look stylish whilst you’re doing it

The versatility of polo shirts are one of the big advantages this wardrobe staple has going for it. You can dress polo shirts up by adding a blazer or dress more casually by pairing with shorts – but you’re always ready for anything in a polo shirt – be it boating, golfing, BBQing or peacocking. Philippe Perzi Vienna’s polo shirts are high quality, colourful and with cutaway collars, you’ll always look comfortable and yet stylish, which after all, should be at the forefront of your mind whenever you get dressed.

Polo Shirts – A note on collars

Despite what you may think, it wasn’t the preppy kids on the beaches of Nantucket who first wore popped collars, but rather René Lacoste who ‘invented’ the polo shirt. Rene was looking for something that would be more comfortable on the tennis court, with an upturned collar to block the sun, and so the polo shirt was born. Well, whilst we’re not telling you how you should wear your polo shirt collar (pop away or not), what we will say is that the Philippe Perzi Vienna collection of polo shirts are durable, with collars that are designed to retain their shape and form, to ensure that you won’t get those annoying scuffed and rolled edges turning upwards after a few wears. However if you do want to pick the right moment to ‘pop your collar,’ Philippe Perzi Vienna polo shirts are the ones to go with. All our polo shirts have stylish contrasting fabric inside the collar and on the underside of the collar and down the front, so that when unbuttoned, a hint of contrast is shown, adding that little extra detail that Philippe Perzi Vienna is known for.
